It’s Shop Tip Tuesday! Whoa, wait…a blog post on a Tuesday?? You bet! Sometimes you just have to change things up. Also, Shop Tip Wednesday just didn’t have quite the same ring to it.
Anyway, I’ll be sharing with you some quick, easy to accomplish tips to improve your shop experience. I have learned a lot from other makers. Some are so simple that I can’t believe I didn’t think of them while still be so brilliant! Be sure to follow along with this series so you can use these in your shop!
The first tip literally takes seconds to accomplish. Really. And you only need two things that I’d bet a dollar you already have on hand.
Yup. Wood filler and plastic wrap. I don’t know about you but I find that my tubs of wood filler, especially the large ones, will start to dry out before I’ve even made much of a dent in them. This is a fairly new tub that I’ve only opened a couple times and you can start to see where it’s drying out because it’s not quite as bright pink as normal.
All you need to do is get a piece of plastic wrap large enough to fit over the tub. Place it over the filler and press it down so it touches the top of the filler.
I equate the thinking behind this to guacamole. Stay with me. I promise I’m not crazy. You know how they tell you to put plastic wrap over guacamole where it’s touching it to keep it from turning brown? Same concept here. We just want to keep it fresher longer by sealing out the air.
When you get the plastic wrap in place, put your lid back on. Make sure it snaps on well otherwise you defeat the purpose of what we just did.
That’s it! Really! It takes me longer to explain it to you than to actually do it!
If you’d like a demonstration, head on over to my YouTube channel to see a quick video showing how to do this.
